Letting Go to Be Held: A Reflection on Tawakkul from the Heart
Jul 18, 2025
I explored the theme of tawakkul and other acts of worship that begin in the heart with fellow seekers. Together, we held space for pain, faith, and trust. And as I sat with their stories and my own, something settled quietly within me:
I know my why.
And I know why I need to keep going.
This is not just a reminder. It is a lifeline for the woman striving, breaking, praying, and holding on. This is for her.
Allah Loves the Mutawakkilīn.
To the one whose heart feels heavy,
To the one whose nights stretch long with unanswered thoughts,
To the soul that feels lost in the chaos of life.
Sometimes, we try so hard.
Harder than we ever thought we could.
We plan.
We strive.
We carry silent battles that few ever see.
But then, the weight becomes too much.
And in those moments, the bravest act… is to let go.
Let go of the illusion that you are in control.
Let go of the pain of doing it all alone.
Let go of the fear that there will be no one to catch you.
Hand it all over to Allah not partially, not with terms, but completely.
“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. Set right all my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.”
Say it softly. Say it loudly.
Say it until your soul believes it.
Because relying on Allah is not weakness.
It is the strongest surrender.
It is the kind of trust that anchors you when everything else falls apart.
It is the certainty that when the world turns away, Allah remains.
That when you feel invisible, you are still seen.
That when you are helpless, you are being held by Al-Qawiyy, the All-Powerful.
You do not have to carry this pain alone.
You do not need to have all the answers.
You do not have to be strong every moment.
Because Allah loves the Mutawakkilīn.
Those who try, then trust.
Those who fall, then reach for Him.
Those who strive with their limbs and surrender with their hearts.
Tawakkul is not passive.
It is active surrender.
It is not the absence of effort, but the presence of certainty in Ar-Rahmaan, the Most Merciful.
When the Storm Rages, the Heart With Tawakkul Is Still.
Because it knows:
وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ
“And whoever puts their trust in Allah – He is sufficient for them.”
(Surah At-Talaq, 65:3)
Let that verse anchor you.
Let it become the thread that holds you steady in every storm.
Reflect: Who Are You Entrusting Your Heart To?
Allah Al-Wakeel – The Ultimate Trustee
The One Who never mismanages what you hand over to Him.
He takes care of your affairs better than you ever could.
Even before you ask, He is already protecting, providing, and planning.
Now imagine when you actually entrust Him?
He takes over with perfection no delay, no flaw, no forgetting.
Allah Al-Qawiyy, Al-‘Azeez – The Most Powerful, The Almighty.
He does not need help. He does not need time.
He can lift your hardship in a blink.
Allah Ar-Raheem – The Especially Merciful.
He sees the tears that have not even fallen.
He hears the du’a you whisper in the quiet of night.
He will never abandon the heart that truly relies on Him.
Even when the world walks away — He stays.
A Du’a From the Heart
May Allah make us among those He loves, the Mutawakkilīn, the ones who trust deeply, sincerely, unconditionally.
May our hearts find peace in His decree.
May we never be left to ourselves not even for the blink of an eye.
May He make our tawakkul the reason for our healing, our strength, and our elevation. Ameen.
